After overcoming the principles of the freemasonry knowledge in the blue, John's, Lodges and after understanding that they shall be able to make the world around themselves better only by knowing it, and that it always starts with understanding themselves, Freemasons have long since felt the need to continue their advancement in the Royal art.

Their new understanding has been, and is attained in a series of freemasonry rites of higher degrees, among which, today, the most numerous is the Scottish Rite.

In the spring of 2003, a little more than five years since the founding of the Grand Lodge of Croatia, the Croatian Freemasons have for the first time in their history founded the Sovereign Scottish Rite for Croatia with a great and unselfish help of Brethren from Slovenia.
